BeeMonitor
About the project
The genesis of the project
The main research problem constituting a premise for the implementation of the research was the lack of intelligent / automatic IT solutions supporting beekeepers in their daily work, thus managing apiaries, especially professional ones, was highly inefficient and dependent only on the human factor, so it was exposed to errors. The reason was also very limited possibilities of efficient identification of problems occurring in a specific hive and thus taking immediate actions to neutralize them. This issue is also related to the phenomenon of mass disappearance of bees, manifested in the sudden and mass disappearance of bee families in unclear and unexplored circumstances, which is currently one of the biggest problems of beekeeping.
The difficulty in identifying the sources of this phenomenon also results from the lack of tools for cumulative monitoring of all beehives in the apiary and information provided in real time regarding the condition of bee families. The lack of mechanisms supporting the daily work in the apiary and enabling the fight against significant problems of beekeepers was the most important premise underlying the decision to implement this project.
Research works
The research works affect many fields of science, from mathematical algorithms and optimization issues, through econometric tools for cluster and correlation analysis, to complex IT solutions such as algorithms processing huge amounts of data. The research project uses the latest technologies, i.e. specialized artificial intelligence algorithms designed to learn faster and more efficient data analysis based on incomplete information packages, taking into account the huge amount of data collected from a large number of devices.
